Description

Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming part of the student writing process. AI can spark curiosity, support research, and deepen learning, but it can also shortcut the very thinking and productive struggle that help students develop strong writing and critical thinking skills. So how can schools enable responsible AI use while still protecting authentic student work?

Join Ashton McGuire, Manager of Education Partnerships at Scrible, and Emily Shank, Customer Success Manager for Scrible, for an engaging IN-PERSON workshop on teaching writing in an AI-enabled world. In this hands-on workshop, educators will explore how Scrible helps schools navigate this challenge by shifting assessment from the final product to the full writing process. Scrible is the first “show your work” writing process platform, allowing teachers to see how students collect sources, annotate information, organize ideas, draft, and revise their work. By making the writing process visible, educators gain meaningful insight into student thinking, provide more targeted feedback, and significantly reduce opportunities for AI plagiarism.

Participants will also be introduced to Rese, Scrible’s built-in generative AI assistant designed specifically for education. Unlike general AI tools that generate finished answers, Rese supports students during research and writing by helping them think critically, explore sources, and refine ideas while maintaining transparency for teachers.

This workshop moves beyond theory and into practice. Attendees will create their own Scrible accounts, activate a free 30-day trial, and explore how the platform can support research, writing, and responsible AI use in real classroom settings. Participants will also have time to experiment with Scrible’s tools, ask questions, and collaborate with colleagues on ways to incorporate the platform into their classrooms or across their schools.

Lunch will be provided following the workshop and Illinois educators can earn 3 PDHs from attending this workshop.

Who should attend:
